2006 Gibson Explorer in alpine white lacquer finish. Active EMGs 85 & 81 pickups and pick guard signed by Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria. Also installed on the pick guard and wired into the electronics is a spring assist intermediate signal cut-off button. Push-in and signal cuts off completely - release and signal is restored. Can make “Tom Morello-esque” effects with ease, without wrecking the pickup sector switch. Comes w/ Gibson snake skin hard case w/ combo lock, and strap w/ push button strap-locks installed.
[Side story: I remember Claudio Sanchez saying “Ha- that’s cool man” when asked what the button was for and I explained. Should have asked if he wanted to play it that night on their 2009 summer tour w/ Heaven & Hell.]
Guitar is in pretty decent shape for being 20 yrs old, by no way “mint” or “NWOT”, etc. Has some bumps, marks, and normal fading you’ll find on most all Gibsons w/ this color lacquer finish. Occasionally gigged the first 5 years or so I owned it. Since then, it has literally been sitting on a stand in my office and gets played maybe once/yr now- if that. Hence the reason for selling: little to no ambition to play any longer. When I do feel the urge to strum, it’s easier to just pickup an acoustic.
Call or text Chuck for more info, pictures if needed, etc. If you’ve never played an Explorer or other solid bodied Gibson w/ EMGs- all the pictures in the world can’t do justice of how amazing, clear and full they sound. Neck and bridge have their own characteristics like passive pickups, and don’t sound “manufactured” or “fake”. Never any second thoughts after installing them, and I’ve happily used them for Classic Rock, ripping solos EVH and Zakk Wylde style, grunge/stoner metal, jamming, blues, Grateful Dead, Country, etc., etc.
