These "King and I" plates are from the Knowles Fine China Company. They were produced in 1985. Each plate is numbered and signed. They are commemorative plates from Rogers & Hammerstein's musical "The King and I". The 4 plate set are, "We Kiss In A Shadow", "Shall We Dance", " Is A Puzzlement", and "Getting To Know You". This is a complete set, and they are all in Excellent Condition with wall hangers. The other items with the set of plates is a Life Magazine from May 28, 1956 with the front cover debuting the movie of "The King and I" with Yul Brynner as the King, and Deborah Kerr as Mrs. Anna. The magazine is in Very Good condition, especially for its age. It has been kept in a plastic cover. The last item is a National Enquirer dated, October 8, 1985, announcing the death of Yul Brynner, "Yul Brynner Loses His Heroic Fight Against Lung Cancer - His Last Tragic Days".
I was in a community theater group that put this show on. I played the crown Princess when I was about 11 years old. Many, Many, Many years ago, but I must consolidate and many of my treasures of the past must go. I am selling this memorabilia set for $50.00. That puts each item, except the Enquirer, at $10.00 each. A price well below market value. Please contact me by phone at show contact info
