This ad has been on craigslist for a while now as a few different years of transmission. I've had a hard time identifying them, but I finally went back to the guy they were bought from at the dealership and he told me they were for 1955, 1956, and 1957 chevy V-8'2 and V-6's. This is one of two New Old Stock, cast iron, powerglide transmissinos that were bought from Newton Chevrolet, here in Chattanooga, TN, about 17 years ago. I am selling them for a friend who knew the parts guy over there and bought these off of the old stock shelf. They are both 1955, '56, '57 trannys. They have never been installed in anything to our knowledge, just stored. They have a layer of oil on them to protect the case from rusting and over the years the oil has picked up a little dust etc. but other than that they are clean. They both have the torque converters in them and they are held in by the factory holders. He has no documentation saying these trannys are NOS, so there is no certifying they are 100% untouched, going on the word of the dealership 17 years ago. The owner is a car collector and has many vehicles with powerglides so just a simple comparison to a used tranny shows a lot. The reason for selling is to try to recoupe some of the money invested in these transmissions for another restoration project. This ad is for one powerglide transmission.
